KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from two individuals regarding yesterday's Utusan Malaysia front page headline which was claimed to be racist, following a report lodged at the Jalan Travers police station by several individuals.

"The case has been classified under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948. We expect to complete investigations in a week's time and after which it will be referred to the Attorney-General's Office.

"We have also recorded a statement from Utusan Malaysia," Kuala Lumpur CID deputy chief Assistant Commissioner Khairi Ahrasa told a press conference here yesterday.

On Tuesday, the Utusan Malaysia daily carried a front page headline "Apa lagi Cina mahu?" (What more do the Chinese want?) in what was alleged to be an attempt to portray the outcome of the 13th General Election results as a Malay versus Chinese issue.

Khairi said the police here had received 476 reports over the polls, with the highest number over the indelible ink issue.

There were 22 reports on voters using other people's identity cards, which will be investigated under the Election Offences Act 1954, he said. Bernama
