USE PROPER CHANNEL: Those who are dissatisfied with polls results urged to seek legal redress
KUALA LUMPUR: THE opposition has been urged to accept the election results and seek legal redress if they are not happy with it instead of resorting to street rallies.Perkasa information chief Ruslan Kasim said the Election Commission (EC) was being fair by giving those who are dissatisfied with the results the chance to submit their complaints.
"This opportunity is not only for the opposition but also Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates who lost in the recently concluded polls."
He also said the opposition must stop being selective in their acceptance of the results and respect the people's choice.
"Why are opposition leaders are keeping quiet over their winnings in Kelantan, Selangor and Penang?" he asked.
Jaringan Melayu Melaysia president Azwanddin Hamzah, in echoing Ruslan's sentiments, said those who were unhappy with the results should present proof of electoral fraud to the court.
"Pakatan had accused the Barisan Nasional of bringing in phantom voters from Bangladesh, Sabah and Sarawak. If this is the case and they have proof, they should take it to the court."
Azwanddin said Pakatan's dissatisfaction stemmed from not being able to accept their defeat.
"The 13th General Election was the only way for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to achieve his dream to be the prime minister," he said, adding that Anwar was willing to "do anything", including adopting an "Arab Spring" approach to bring down the government.
Brickfields Rukun Tetangga chairman S.K.K Naidu said street demonstration to voice out one's displeasure would not benefit the people.
"It will instead affect a large number of people. BN also lost their seats in the general election, but the coalition will not hold street protests."
Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) president Datuk N. Marimuthu said the country needed stability for investment to pour in.
"We need to move forward and focus on the country's economic development rather than holding street demonstrations. Everything is over and the verdict is clear and we need to move on."
International Youth Centre Director Datuk Raja Ruslan said the opposition should accept the fact that BN was again given the fresh mandate to rule the country.
