STABLE: Former Kedah MB warded for infection on his legs
GEORGE TOWN: YANG di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and his consort, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, were among the dignitaries who visited former Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak at Penang Hospital's coronary care unit (CCU) yesterday.The king and his consort were accompanied by Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and his consort, Toh Puan Majimor Shariff, Kedah Council of Regency chairman Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan Badlishah and member Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
Newly sworn in Kedah and Perlis menteris besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir and Azlan Man were also present.
The king arrived at the hospital at 4.50pm and spent about 10 minutes talking to Azizan.
Azizan, 73, who is Sungai Limau assemblyman, had been warded at the Kedah Medical Centre for infection on his legs on Monday before being transferred to Penang Hospital the following day at 4pm.
Penang Hospital director Datuk Dr Yasmin Sulaiman said in a statement yesterday that Azizan was admitted to the hospital's Trauma and Emergency Department on Tuesday evening and was moved to the intensive care unit at 9.15pm the same day.
Mukhriz said Azizan's condition was stable and that he was being monitored by doctors.
Other notable guests who paid the veteran politician a visit yesterday were Penang Pas commissioner Datuk Mohd Salleh Man, Pas vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Kelab Putera 1Malaysia president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi and Northern Corridor Implementation Authority chief executive officer Datuk Redza Rafiq.
In the recently concluded 13th General Election, Azizan retained his Sungai Limau state seat, beating Barisan Nasional's Fazillah Mohd Ali by a 2,774-vote majority.
